Doubletree Chain Opens in Africa

Hilton Hotels’ popular Doubletree brand has expanded to Africa. At press time, the Doubletree by Hilton Dar es Salaam, Oyster Bay, and the Doubletree by Hilton Resort Zanzibar, Nungwi, were both slated to open in October 2009. The Doubletree in Oyster Bay is located in a suburb of Tanzania’s capital, Dar es Salaam, about 12 miles east of the international airport. It has 158 rooms, a restaurant, a café, and an outdoor swimming pool with pool bars, meeting rooms and business center. The Doubletree Zanzibar, Nungwi, on the north coast of Zanzibar Island, has 101 rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, a gym, a spa and a health club. It’s located an hour’s drive from the airport.
