Las Vegas's New Hotel
Las Vegas, already an eye-popping destination, will soon have another gargantuan development to ogle. CityCenter, developed by MGM Mirage and Dubai World, will open in late 2009 on 67 acres between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. A new luxury gaming resort, the 4,004-room Aria (arialasvegas.com) at the CityCenter, is already accepting reservations for December 17, 2009, and beyond. Designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli, the steel-and-glass hotel will be the centerpiece of CityCenter. Guestrooms will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, modern decor and next-generation technology, including curtains that open automatically and lights that turn on when a guest enters the room. The hotel will feature a Cirque du Soleil show celebrating the music of Elvis Presley, as well as a gaggle of restaurants helmed by celebrity chefs. In addition to an 80,000-square-foot spa and salon, the hotel will have a 215,000-square-foot pool deck with four pools and 50 cabanas for up to 1,500 guests.
