New Airline for Pets Only
Never mind those all-business-class airlines—now there’s a carrier devoted to nothing but your best friend. Pet Airways (petairways.com) is a self-described “pet-only airline dedicated to pet-friendly travel,” where Rover or Fluffy travels in the lighted and climate-controlled main cabin, not in cargo. (All pets must still be in carriers.) Pets are dropped off at a Pet Lounge, given potty breaks and boarded onto the plane. A Pet Attendant checks on the comfort of all “pawsengers” every 15 minutes during the flight. After landing, pets are disembarked, given a potty break and available for pickup at the Pet Lounge or boarded overnight at a PAWS Lodge. Pets are transported on Beech 1900 turboprops with the seats and overhead bins removed. Initially, the airline is serving New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles, but more locations may be added.
