New Hotel to Open in Outer Space

Looking for a place to get away from it all in 2012? Here s one that s truly out of this world: the Galactic Suite Space Resort (galacticsuite.com), the first hotel planned in space. It’ll cost you $4.4 million for a three night stay, but you’ll see the sun rise 15 times a day and travel around the world every 80 minutes. The resort is a single pod in orbit 280 miles above the earth, with the capacity to hold four guests and two astronaut pilots. It takes a day and a half to reach in a Russian rocket that docks with it. The rocket then returns to earth (to a spaceport on an island in the Caribbean, to be exact). More than 200 people have already expressed interest in traveling to the space hotel, and at least 43 people have already reserved their spots.
