Westin Hotels: No more excuses for skipping workouts
How many times have you failed to work out on a business trip because you didn’t want to pack those bulky sneakers in your carry-on? Thanks to a new program from Starwood’s Westin Hotels group, that excuse won’t wash any more.
Westin has teamed up with New Balance to offer workout shoes and clothing to guests at all 190 of its properties worldwide. For a charge of $5, Westin said, guests can get a pair of running shoes with disposable insoles to use during their stay, along with a selection of men’s and women’s New Balance outfits, including shorts, shirts and socks for men, and shorts, capri pants, shirts, sports bras and socks for women.
The hotel company tested the concept in 10 properties a couple of years ago, and said it received “unprecedented positive feedback” from guests.
Besides the gear rental program, Westin said it is also working with New Balance to provide guests with in-room fitness content that helps them do equipment-free stretching, strength training and cardio workouts in their rooms, as well as yoga.
New Balance is also working to update Westin’s three-mile and five-mile local running routes for each hotel, the company said.
