New Waterfront Miami Casino Planned

Las Vegas has been on a roll, but a proposed casino complex on Miami’s waterfront could mean snake eyes for Nevada’s gambling mecca. Malaysian company Genting says its Florida casino would not be the largest in the world but could generate as much as $2 billion a year in gambling revenue, enough to clobber the highest-grossing casinos in Vegas ($747 million from the two adjoining Wynn hotels). Resorts World Miami would be a 10-million-square-foot, 5,200-room vacation destination built on 14 acres of bay-front land. Still, the world’s largest gambling revenues are generated in Asia’s casinos, where top-producing Wynn Macau brings in $4.5 billion a year.
