“Down under” will take on a whole new meaning when Dubai completes the construction of its first luxury underwater hotel. The 21 double rooms of the World Discus Hotel will be nearly 33 feet below the surface and connected to another disc-shaped building above the water by three “legs” and a vertical shaft containing an elevator and stairway. The project will cost up to $120 million, but guests will have access to an underwater dive center and bar, and they’ll be able to operate miniature vehicles from inside their rooms that can take photographs of surrounding sea creatures.
