American, Delta add new international routes

American Airlines said it will bolster service to South America on December 13 when it begins new daily non-stops between its Chicago O’Hare hub and Buenos Aires. The carrier already serves Buenos Aires from Miami, Dallas/Ft. Worth and New York JFK. American will use a two-class 767-300 on the route, with flights operating overnight in both directions. American also unveiled plans to add two more routes from New York JFK to Europe next spring: Milan and Barcelona, both starting May 1, and both using two-class 767-300s. American also said its new JFK-London Stansted service that begins October 28 will get a second daily roundtrip as of April 7.


Delta Air Lines said last week it plans to launch the first-ever transatlantic service from its Salt Lake City hub next year, when it begins SLC-Paris non-stops on June 2, 2008. Delta will use a 767-300ER for the 10-hour flight. Onward connections at Paris CDG will be available from Delta’s SkyTeam partner, Air France.
