AA's new partner

El Al to code-share with American

American Airlines said it has applied to the Transportation Department for authorization to begin a new code-sharing pact with Israel’s El Al Airlines starting February 1. The two airlines already have a frequent flyer partnership that lets AAdvantage members earn and spend miles on El Al. The code-sharing agreement would put American’s AA code on El Al flights to Tel Aviv from New York JFK, Los Angeles, Miami and Newark, and on El Al flights to Tel Aviv from London Heathrow, Paris, Madrid, Zurich and Rome. El Al’s code would go onto American’s flights between the U.S. and London Heathrow, Paris, Madrid, Zurich and Rome as well as select domestic flights out of JFK, Miami, LAX, Newark and Toronto.

Just wondering if this code sharing arrangement had been approved. If so when will it start?
