Southwest is renovating its gate areas with a family section, and with padded chairs, power ports, tables with power outlets, and TVs playing the news (see this week’s story). When it comes to airline gate areas in general, what kinds of changes or amenities would make your waiting time more comfortable and productive? Post your comments here.

I would like reclining chairs, pillows, blankets, and warm milk, for those long overnight layovers: otherwise, bring back the old days, when you could check in 30 minutes prior to departure, and airlines didn't close the ramp doors, 5, 10 or 15 minutes ahead published schedules...and even when you showed the gate agent the time on your atomic watch...they say sorry, pay me $100.00 if you want to get on the next flight, you were supposed be here 90 minutes ahead. On the other hand, I suppose there are some who enjoy the hours spent in these waiting areas.
