JetBlue airlines has introduced refundable fares for the first time (see this week’s story). Our question for this week: Are refundable fares important or essential to you, or are you generally able (or required by company policy) to take advantage of nonrefundable fares by locking in your travel schedule or otherwise meeting the restrictions attached to the lower fares? LIfe is not predictable. It is wonderful to change a flight without worrying about the financial consequences, when plans change. If the airline has a seat, why not let me fly now instead of waiting for my scheduled flight when they may have to turn people away.
