Time for a passenger bill of rights?
Feb 19 2007, 2:35 PM EST : JetBlue was all over the news last week for leaving angry passengers stranded aboard grounded planes at New York JFK for up to 10 hours during an ice storm. Have you ever been in a situation like that? Do you think the government should pass legislation setting specific standards for airline operations in such situations? Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Time for a passenger bill of rights?
Feb 20 2007, 11:51 AM EST As much as I can sympathize with the passengers on those flights, having Congress dictate a passenger "bill of rights" seems unwarranted. Let the market punish JetBlue - especially if they don't get their act together. Congress should be concerned with larger issues - not just the ones that give them the immediate headlines. Do you find this valuable? |

"I think each airline needs to take responsibility for their own actions. JetBlue has stepped up and reacted (potentially spending tens of millions of $ to make this last week's events right) so I don't think government invervention is necessary. Not to downplay the incredible inconvenience those passengers have suffered, but JetBlue has been an innovative and refreshing new player to the airline industry... I hate to see so many years of hard work undone in just a few days. They absolutely made mistakes... BIG ones... but let them learn from them and earn their customers back. Do you find this valuable? |
