London Heathrow has a reputation for delays and baggage problems, leading many travelers to bypass it as a connecting point. British Airways hopes to change that when its huge new Terminal 5 opens to passengers at LHR next week (see this week’s story). Have you been avoiding Heathrow? If so, do you think the new T5 will improve matters there, or will it be made worse by airlines changing terminals and carriers adding more flights due to the new Open Skies agreement? I will still avoid Heathrow when going to Continental Europe asI prefer the ease of transferring in FRA or MUC. I also mostly use American and United when going to the UK or Ireland. Heathrow's other terminals will be messed up for several what with modernization in T-1,2,3 & 4. A good alternative to Heathrow when going to the UK from ORD is to fly BMI to Manchester.
