Rising travel costs
Apr 2 2007, 10:03 AM EDT Domestic air fares last year were up more than seven percent, according to a new study by American Express – and hotel and car rental prices were also up sharply. Have rising costs put a crimp in your business travel schedule? Are you doing anything new this year to stretch your travel budget further (or are you being forced to by your company)? RE: Rising travel costs
Apr 3 2007, 5:09 AM EDT I travel almost weekly domestically and Internationally. Yes, being part of a small company the hikes are taking a toll. Hotel rooms that should be less than $100 have actually cost me nearly $300 this year just because "there is a big convention in town". I doubt anyone in the area I was in had anything to do with the convention, I know I didn't, but I was severely gouged anyway. Airfares - They are all over the board. Generally significantly higher, but occasionally there is a surprisingly low fare. More that anything, looking at hotel rooms that far exceed any value for the dollar, crowded flights, TSA and their mostly silly rules and regulations and I'm just getting tired of fighting the battle just to get to the front to do business. I'm not alone, road warriors I see and talk with feel much the same. Like Congress, those that make the rules, rarely have to live with them, I wish the senior folks in Airlines, Hotels and Companies had to travel like those of us who provide the majority of their incomes. Frustrated, yes! Tired of paying excessive costs for services just because I can't plan my trip to where ever a year in advance. Oh, have you tried to use any of those hard earned miles/points? There are no seats at the base rate, please redeam double miles/points or more. Industry, you owe your best customers more loyalty than this. DB-Florida Do you find this valuable? |
