American adds airport privileges for elites

Some locations will get dedicated security lane

Over the next five weeks, American Airlines will introduce a new program of airport privileges for its top customers. Called PriorityAAcceess, the new amenities are for the exclusive use of AAdvantage Executive Platinum, Platinum and Gold members; AAirpass holders; Oneworld Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby members; and passengers ticketed in full-fare (Y) economy. The program includes a dedicated check-in area at the ticket counter; a separate lane at the gate for boarding before other passengers, or at any time after general boarding has begun; and a separate security screening lane at some airports. American said the separate security lanes will be offered at its 10 largest airports – including DFW, O’Hare, Miami, Los Angeles, JFK, LaGuardia, St. Louis, San Francisco, Boston and San Juan – and at other airports “where permitted by the TSA.” American said the new check-in and boarding lanes should be fully deployed by the end of October at all the airports it serves worldwide.
