Atlanta's airport buses

Atlanta will allow busing of passengers from aircraft to terminals

In an effort to act on a growing problem of congestion and ground delays for arriving aircraft, Atlanta Hartfield-Jackson Airport has approved a new plan that will give airlines the option of having passengers ride a bus to the terminal if a plane faces a long wait for an empty gate. Atlanta city officials have endorsed a plan for the airport to buy four new buses that can each fit about 80 passengers and their carry-ons, as well as mobile staircases to get passengers off the planes. According to press reports, during the month of June an average of 40 arriving aircraft each day had to wait 30 minutes to as long as two hours for a gate where they could park and let passengers off.
