BA's OpenSkies gets a web site

Site seeks consumer input for new subsidiary

British Airways’ new OpenSkies subsidiary – due to start flying three-class 757s in June between the U.S. and continental Europe without a stop in London – has opened up a web site and blog that reveals more details about the new airline’s services, and solicits feedback from customers. As announced in January, OpenSkies will begin operating from New York to Paris or Brussels; the airline’s 757s will have just 82 seats – 30 economy, 28 premium economy and 24 business class. According to the web site, business class will offer 180-degree lie-flat seats, and all passengers will get “wine poured from a proper bottle, not tiny individual bottles; more of an a la carte meal service instead of the standard shrink-wrapped offerings; and personal audio/video on demand entertainment units with 50+ hours of programming.” The site invites customers to share their thoughts on what they’d like to see in OpenSkies or what they think of the concept, and it promises that it “won’t necessarily drop a comment just because it isn’t favorable to OpenSkies.” Indeed, the comments posted thus far have some negative things to say about British Airways and praise for some amenities offered by other airlines.
