BA may slow shift to LHR's Terminal 5
But problems said to be easing
According to a report in USA Today, officials at British Airways say they are having second thoughts about continuing to shift long-haul operations into London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 after its problem-riddled first two weeks, which resulted in thousands of bags being lost or misdirected and hundreds of flights delayed or canceled. The report noted that BA’s T5 is already handling transatlantic flights to and from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami; BA was due to shift other transatlantic flights to T5 beginning at the end of April, including those from Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Newark, JFK, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Seattle and Washington Dulles, but those plans are now on hold, the newspaper said. The operational problems at T5 have improved considerably ion the past week, the newspaper noted.
