Better business class coming to Delta 767s

Delta will overhaul BusinessElite cabins on international 767s

Delta Air Lines will revamp the BusinessElite cabins on its international 767-400s starting in spring of 2009, installing 40 new seats in a 1-2-1 configuration that recline to a fully flat position for sleeping. The 77-inch-long seat-beds will come with a full-size pillow, duvet comforter, on-demand digital entertainment system with a 10.6-inch screen, PC power and USB ports at each seat, personal reading light, shoe storage space and lumbar support. “Eventually, all of Delta’s international Boeing 767 aircraft will feature a full-flat seat,” a spokesman said. The economy cabins in the 767-400s will also get a new on-demand digital entertainment system, and in-flight service will be improved with printed menus, a free cocktail with dinner, and a mid-flight snack. Later this month, meanwhile, Delta will take delivery of its first 777LR (long range), which will offer fully-flat Business Elite seats. Those plane swill first be used starting in April on “ultra long-haul routes like JFK to Mumbai, India,” Delta said. And starting this summer, passengers on Delta’s international-capable 757s will see new BusinessElite seating with a “cradle recliner-style seat” that offers 55-inch pitch and a 14-inch recline, in a 2x2 configuration. The revamped international 757s will also offer BusinessElite passengers a full-size pillow, duvet comforter, PC and USB ports, reading lights, and an on-demand digital entertainment system with a seven-inch video screen, Delta said.
