Boingo Wireless expands airport presence in deal with Sprint

Boingo Wireless has acquired seven airport WiFi networks from Sprint and converted them to Boingo hotspots. The affected airports include Houston Hobby, Houston Bush Intercontinental, Memphis International, Milwaukee General Mitchell International, Oakland International, Louisville International-Standifer Field, and Salt Lake City International. That gives Boingo and its Concourse Communications subsidiary control of WiFi services at 23 airports, representing 37 percent of all passenger boardings in North America’s top 100 airports. “Sprint customers will retain WiFi access in these seven airports and will gain access to 16 additional airports where Boingo provides WiFi services directly,” the company said. Additionally, the companies have entered into a roaming agreement that will provide Sprint customers access to Boingo’s global hotspot network.” The other 16 airports in Boingo’s domain include Atlanta, Kalamazoo, Nashville, Baltimore/Washington, Detroit Metro, Newark, JFK, LaGuardia, Chicago Midway, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Oklahoma City, Chicago O’Hare, San Juan, Lambert-St. Louis, Toronto Pearson and Ottawa International.
