Will fly regional jets from Calgary to Toronto
Here’s another twist on the all-business-class airline – this time from Canada. A company called Corpac Canada Ltd., which has long been in the charter business and operates scheduled service between Calgary and Fort McMurray, has announced plans to begin a new domestic (i.e., within Canada) airline called Corporate Jet Air. Corpac said the new airline would begin flying sometime this spring between Calgary and Toronto, using CRJ-200 LR jets – normally, regional jets that carry 50 passengers; but Corporate Jet Air will reconfigure the planes with 18 seats in an all-business-class format. “The in-flight experience includes gourmet dining, entertainment units, and power receptacles at each seat,” the company said. Corporate Jet Air will initially operate three daily non-stops between the two cities, “targeting business travelers who call for convenience, flexibility and comfort in air travel with a unique prepaid trust arrangement,” the company said. A Corpac executive said the service will be “very cost effective for the frequent flyers of our route, and especially for those whose plans can change at a moment’s notice.” A company executive told the Toronto Globe and Mail that the next phase of expansion for Corporate Jet Air might include Vancouver-Toronto and Calgary-Houston service. He also said that the airline will offer customers limousine transfers at both airports, and that check-in time will be just 20 minutes prior to scheduled departure.
