Singapore Changi gets new terminal this month
Singapore’s Changi Airport, consistently rated as one of the world’s best in passenger surveys, will get even better on January 9. That’s the official opening date for Changi’s new Terminal 3, or T3, a $1.75 billion facility that will increase the airport’s passenger capacity by 22 million per year. With 380,000 square meters and 28 aircraft gates, the new T3 – the airport’s largest terminal -- will be capable of handling Singapore Airlines’ new A380 super-jumbos. Besides Singapore Airlines, which will move its long-haul services from T2 to T3, other airlines using T3 include United,United, Qatar Airways, China Eastern and Jet Airways. With natural lighting provided by hundreds of skylights that automatically adjust to the sunlight, the new T3 will also offer a huge array of retail outlets, including more than 100 shops, 30 restaurants and 20 service establishments.
