Congressman learns about airline passengers’ frustrations the hard way

As you were waiting in a long line at the airport, or sitting hours on a plane waiting to take off, have you ever wished that members of Congress could see what kind of troubles airline passengers face these days? Well, congresspeople do fly commercial, and last week one of them got pushed over the edge after waiting too long for his checked bag at the carousel. Rep. Bob Filner, a California Democrat, was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery after the allegedly shoved a United Airlines employee at Washington Dulles. According to press reports, Filner allegedly pushed his way past employees into United’s baggage claim office and wouldn’t leave when he was told to. So United’s people called the cops. Filner claims the reports are inaccurate and denied he pushed anyone.
