Delta, US Airways plan new Europe routes

DL eyes Paris service from RDU, PIT

Both Delta and US Airways have announced plans to add new routes to Europe next year. Delta said that as part of its growing joint venture with Air France, it will kick off non-stop Raleigh/Durham-Paris and Pittsburgh-Paris service in June. The flights will both use 757-200s with two-class service, and will fly into Charles de Gaulle Airport. The RDU flight – the airport’s first-ever transatlantic service – will operate out of its newly opened Terminal 2. Meanwhile, US Airways said it intends to start operating daily seasonal service on April 21 between Charlotte and Paris CDG -- a route it had discontinued eight years ago – with a two-class 767. In May 2009, US Airways also plans to add two new European routes from its Philadelphia hub – seasonal daily service to Oslo, Norway and to Birmingham, England. Both of those routes will use two-class 757s.
