Delta: Curbside check-in OK for international

Also enhances web options

Delta said it now permits passengers ticketed on international flights to check in and drop their bags at curbside, at airports where that amenity exists. “Delta, including its Northwest subsidiary, is the only U.S.-based carrier to offer this service at every U.S. curbside location the airline serves,” a spokesman said. The airline had already announced plans to end its $3 curbside check-in fee effective next month. Meanwhile, Delta said it has also improved the functionality of its web site (www.delta.com) by allowing passengers to save their profile, thus reducing the number of steps required to book a flight; the company said this task can now be completed in as little as 30 seconds from start to finish. The company has also improved the self-check-in process at its airport kiosks, “reducing the number of screens a passenger clicks through when checking in,” the spokesman said. “The new system also provides easier access to flight itineraries and real-time weather conditions at their destination. In addition, customers can elect to bypass baggage-check screens if they are not checking bags.”
