International flights OK; also expands food service

Delta Air Lines said that passengers on most of its international flights can now check in online at www.delta.com and print their boarding passes at home or in the office. They can also check in bags online, leaving them at a Delta Baggage Drop location when they get to the airport. The airline said the online check-in option is available for travel to any Delta destination that does not require the customer to have a visa. Meanwhile, Delta said that due to “customer demand,” it is expanding its in-flight food-for-sale program, called EATS. The program will henceforth be offered on all flights within the U.S. of 750 miles (about one and a half hours) or more, and on select flights between the U.S. and Caribbean/Latin American beach destinations of 1,550 miles (three and a half hours) or more. Delta said it recently upgraded the menu in the EATS program, adding things from celebrity chef Todd English like an $8 chicken parmesan sandwich, an $8 chicken bistro salad, and a $7 serving of hummus with veggies. Delta said limited EATS selections will be available on the shorter flights, while an expanded menu will be available on flights of 1,025 miles (about two hours) or more. Next month, Delta said, it will begin selling 20-ounce bottles of Vitaminwater from Glaceau for $3 apiece.
