Delta starts repainting Northwest planesThis is a featured page

Carrier gets its first 747 in 30 years

Delta Air Lines hasn’t had a 747 in its fleet in more than 30 years, but thanks to its merger with Northwest, a Boeing jumbo jet with Delta livery is appearing in airports once again. According to the Wall Street Journal Online, Delta has repainted one of Northwest’s 747s with its own colors; that aircraft is being used on various U.S.-Japan and intra-Asian routes. Just four other Northwest aircraft have been repainted as Delta jets thus far, a spokesman told the web site, including an A320, a DC-9 and a 757. The company said it plans to repaint 200 Northwest aircraft during 2009, and to finish the transformation of the entire Northwest fleet by the end of 2010.
