EgyptAir joins Star Alliance
Carrier will use new terminal at Cairo
EgyptAir last week became the newest full member of the global Star Alliance, entitling passengers to all the benefits of the program, including frequent flyer reciprocity, through ticketing, airport lounge access and more. North American members of Star include United, US Airways and Air Canada. The alliance now includes 21 full member airlines, including Lufthansa, SAS, Singapore, Thai, South African Airways, Asiana, ANA, Air New Zealand, Shanghai Airlines and others. EgyptAir operates a fleet of 50 aircraft, serving 69 destinations in 44 countries from its base at Cairo. The affiliation will give Star Alliance customers new access to points in Africa via Cairo, where EgyptAir has a significant service network and continues to expand; for instance, it will soon add new service to Dar Es Salaam, Abidjan and Conakry. In November 2008, EgyptAir will move into a new Terminal 3 at Cairo International Airport for improved connections.
