With a little predeparture prep, you’ll arrive at your destination looking just as good as you did at check-in.
The tip sheet
- Ban the glass. Opt for grooming and beauty products that come in tubes and plastic containers to avoid breakage and mess.
- Tube time. Products that come in tightly sealed tubes make for easier organization and use.
- Drop the soap. Bar soap is messy for travel. Choose a shower gel that comes in a plastic tube or bottle.
- If in doubt, leave it out. While it’s hard to second-guess airline regulations, play it safe and pack pointy objects, such as tweezers and scissors, in your check-in bags. If you’re using only carry-on, leave any questionable goods at home or the office. You’ll save time and potential hassle, and you can, for the most part, easily purchase them for a few dollars at your destination.
- Beautify in advance. Tweeze and shave just before you take off for your trip. You’ll economize time and look great on arrival.
- Be scent-sational. Take a little aromatherapy candle or fragrance sticks to give your hotel room a personalized aroma.
- Make a mini-kit. If you travel with lots of products, make a smaller version of your kit in a resealable plastic bag that holds the bare necessities: a toothbrush, toothpaste, face or eye cream, makeup, deodorant and a fragrance. This way, you can easily get to and use everything on the plane before arrival.
