American's "Next-Generation Business Class"
- Installations began on 767s last year; will start on 777s this fall.
- New seat has five independent motors for customized personal comfort adjustment.
- Seats lie flat to a length of 76 inches, and have privacy dividers.
- User can slide each seat forward 10 inches while it is in the upright position, permitting more priacy and distance from seatmates.
- Seats each have two tray tables -- on drops from the seatback ahead, the othre comes up from the center console, and they can be interlocked for larger usable surface area.
- Entertainment choices: 35 movies, 18 hours of TV, 50 music CDs, 15 games, 14 audio channels; Bose QuietComfort 3 noise-canceling headphones provided.
United's new "United Business" product
- Seat reclines 180 degrees, extends to length of 76 inches.
- Seats alternate between forward- and rear-facing.
- Seats have four-way lumbar support and six-way adjustable headrests.
- Seats come with an iPod adapter for playing your own music or movies through the entertainment system.
- Each seat has a USB port for recharging electronic devices, and a standard 110v port requiring no adapter.
- Entertainment system offers movies, 20 channels of XM-branded audio, 30 channels of other audio, ability to build customized playlists.
- New business class will go into all 747s, 777s and 767s starting this fall.
