Two low-cost carriers expanding at Memphis, Minneapolis

Frontier Airlines, citing strong passenger response to its new flight operations at Memphis, said it will increase service there this fall by adding flights to its existing destinations – Denver, Las Vegas and Orlando – and by adding a new destination, Ft. Lauderdale. The airline will boost Memphis-Las Vegas service to five days a week on September 6; introduce daily Memphis-Ft. Lauderdale flights November 15; add a third daily Memphis-Denver flight on November 15; and add a second Orlando roundtrip from Memphis December 15.

At Minneapolis-St. Paul,Paul, meanwhile, Sun Country Airlines this month is phasing in a schedule expansion made possible by its acquisition of two more aircraft. Sun Country said it is adding more frequencies on routes from the Twin Cities to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C.; later this year, the airline plans to add service from MSP to Tucson and West Palm Beach for the winter season.
