Frontier adds frequent flyer fees

Redemptions will cost $25

Denver-based Frontier Airlines, currently operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, is the latest carrier to add new fee levels to its frequent flyer program. Frontier said in a mailing to members that effective September 15, it will impose a $25 fee for all EarlyReturns award ticket redemptions, except for Summit-level members. The fee for redeeming within 14 days of departure will be $75 (waived for EarlyReturns Plus bookings); the fee to change or cancel an award travel itinerary will increase from $35 to $75. Meanwhile, Frontier is also increasing the mileage cost of award travel. For travel within the U.S. and to or from Canada, the cost for a one-way ticket increases from 10,000 miles to 15,000, and for a roundtrip ticket, from the current 15,000 miles to 20,000. A roundtrip ticket to Mexico or Alaska will cost 30,000 miles, up from 25,000.
