Getting there
The Minneapolis airport is the main hub for Northwest Airlines, so the check-in lines are decidedly longer than other carriers’. Security checkpoints usually don’t present major delays or hassles. Check your terminal carefully. Some airlines arrive at the newer Hubert Humphrey Terminal, a long shuttle-bus ride away.
Getting around
Taxis from the Lindbergh Terminal of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (mspairport.com)(mspairport.com) to downtown charge about $35. Both morning and evening rush hours slow down driving time considerably, since you’re going—or standing—with the flow of commuters. Savvy travelers hop on the new light rail train instead (signs direct you to it) and quickly end up at the end of the line in the heart of downtown, a half-mile hike from hotels. Roaming cabs aren’t always easy to find; try ITN Taxi (itnhome.com,(itnhome.com, 952-926-8294).
