Icelandair adds premium economy cabin

Also upgrades its web site

Icelandair has announced improvements in both cabin service and its website starting next month, including the addition of a Premium Economy section to its transatlantic flights. The airline said its new Economy Plus section will provide “wider, more comfortable seats” than coach class, as well as “more legroom; complimentary beer, wine and meals; with business class check-in and lounge access.” Icelandair said it has also updated its Saga Class business cabin, but gave no details. All classes will feature new “ergonomically designed seats with personal in-flight entertainment systems,” the company said. The changes take effect November 1. On the same date, the airline said, it will debut a more user-friendly website. “Passengers will be sent pre-flight emails with information and details of their upcoming travels, and post-travel emails so that we may learn from our passengers’ flight experiences,” Icelandair said. The company added that it will soon make available new online features that will enable passengers to check in for flights, check bags and print boarding passes from their own computers. Icelandair flies year-round from Boston, JFK and Orlando Sanford to Iceland, and seasonally from Minneapolis-St. Paul, with onward services beyond Reykjavik to 20 destinations in Europe.
