JetBlue moves at JFK
Starts flying out of new Terminal 5
Although it was a few weeks behind the original schedule, JetBlue Airways has moved into its new home at New York JFK’s Terminal 5, located behind the old TWA terminal. All JetBlue domestic flights and international departures now operate out of Terminal 5 instead of Terminal 6; international arrivals that have pre-cleared U.S. Customs will also come into T5. The terminal has 26 gates in three concourses, and can handle up to 250 departures a day – or about 30 percent of the airport’s annual passenger traffic. Many of the terminal’s 25 retail specialty stores and 22 food and beverage outlets are located in a 55,000 square foot central marketplace. For passenger processing, the terminal offers 65 self-service kiosks and 40 check-in counters, as well as what JetBlue claims is the largest single security checkpoint in the U.S., with up to 20 screening lanes. Travelers will find free WiFi throughout the terminal, and a new system of touch-screen monitors that permit passengers to order meals for delivery to the gate areas.
