US Airways introduces new texting services for customers

New technology from US Airways enables customers to check their flight status or to enroll in the carrier’s Dividend Miles program using text-messaging devices. To check the status of a US Airways flight, text your flight number to TEXTUS (839887); you’ll get a return text message with the up-to-date arrival and departure times and current gate information. “This is a particularly useful tool for travelers with connecting flights to stay informed,” said a company spokesman. Travelers can also use texting to join the airline’s Dividend Miles frequent flyer program; just text your first and last name, email address and zip code, separated by spaces, to the same number (839887). The airline will reply with a temporary membership number so you can start earning miles immediately. You’ll get an email later to complete the process.
