Was It Built with Norwegian Wood?
Money still can’t buy love, but it can get you a room at the new Beatles-themed hotel that opened in Liverpool in February 2008. The city has also been named next year’s European Capital of Culture. The 110-room, four-star boutique Hard Day’s Night Hotel (harddaysnighthotel.com) is located a short stroll from the Cavern Club, where the Fab Four first rose to fame. It offers two penthouse suites named after Lennon (with a white grand piano) and McCartney, and it features specially commissioned artwork throughout the property that tells the Beatles story. In addition, the hotel has two restaurants serving modern British cuisine, two bars, two conference rooms and a chapel for those who want get hitched during their stay. In a bittersweet twist, statues of the four Beatles grace the front of the hotel, signifying a now impossible reunion.
