Impact on schedule uncertain

If you’re scheduled to fly on Lufthansa this week, better check with the airline’s web site, or call 800-399-5838, to check on your flight status. These things sometimes are resolved at the last minute, but the airline was warning customers on Friday (July 25) that its flight attendants and ground workers were due to go out on strike Sunday night (July 27). “Lufthansa has taken measures to minimize the impact on its passengers,” the airline said, but “possible disturbances in the flight schedule cannot be specified yet as no details on the strike action are available.” The carrier said it would post up-to-date flight status information on its web site as it becomes available. Bloomberg News reported that more than 90 percent of the union members involved have voted in favor of a strike, since labor and management failed to agree on pay increases for some 50,000 workers. Last week, members of Lufthansa’s pilots union staged a temporary walkout at two of the company’s intra-European subsidiaries, Eurowings and Cityline, resulting in the cancellation of hundreds of flights.
