Launch of Frontier’s new regional subsidiary is delayed

Frontier Airlines said that its new subsidiary, Lynx Aviation, won’t be able to start service on October 1 as previously planned due to a delay in obtaining certification from the FAA. The new unit will use Q400 turboprops to serve secondary markets from Frontier’s Denver hub. The airline had announced that Lynx would begin flying October 1 to Wichita, Rapid City, Sioux City, Billings and Albuquerque. Those flights will still operate, but instead of the Q400s, “Frontier will service those routes via existing E170 and CRJ-700 aircraft from its partners Republic Airways and Horizon Air, as well as with supplemental mainline Airbus service as needed,” a spokesman said.
