Lynx on the prowl
Frontier’s new Lynx subsidiary starts operations
After months of regulatory delays, Frontier Airlines new regional subsidiary, Lynx Aviation, has finally started flying. The operation has a fleet of 10 Q400 turboprops, which are said to burn about a third less fuel than comparably sized regional jets. Initial routes for Lynx from its Denver base include Rapid City, S.D.; Sioux City, Iowa; Wichita, Kans.; Billings, Mont.; Albuquerque, N.M. and Tulsa, Okla. The routes to Rapid City, Sioux City and Wichita have been using regional jets of other Frontier partner carriers until the Lynx certification was received. Frontier reportedly plans top expand the Lynx route network to include mountain towns like Aspen and Steamboat Springs.
