Midwest adds Signature seating option on several MD-80 routes
Midwest Airlines said it has reconfigured several of its MD-80s, adding its upgraded Signature seats. The aircraft now provide 12 wider Signature leather seats in a 2x2 arrangement, and 127 or 131 Saver leather seats configured 2x3. Midwest said customers can select a Signature seat on the affected flights for a $60 per segment fee at Web check-in up to 24 hours before departure, or they can buy a Signature seat at the airport self-service kiosk, ticket counter or gate up to 30 minutes before flight time. The new Signature seats are now available on flights from Milwaukee to Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers, Kansas City (flight 918 only), Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle and Tampa; and from Kansas City to Milwaukee (flight 921 only) and San Francisco. Officials said this is the first phase in a plan to bring both types of seating to all of Midwest’s mainline aircraft. “By mid-2008, customers will also be able to choose both types of seating on our Boeing 717s as well,” a spokesman said.
