Midwest Airlines’ regional operation will shift to 50-seat regional jets

Midwest Airlines said that in March and April, it will transition its entire Midwest Connect operation from Skyway Airlines to SkyWest Airlines. No routes will be dropped as a result of the change, but passengers on Midwest Connect will see a switch in aircraft from Skyway’s 32-passenger Fairchild 328 jets to SkyWest’s 50-seat regional jets, giving Midwest Connect a significant increase in capacity. Midwest said that the 32-seat planes were not as economic to operate as the 50-seat aircraft. Skyway will still provide airport services for Midwest Connect, like ramp and dining services, as well as customer service at smaller Midwest Connect airports.
