Among U.S. hotel openings, downtown Denver has its first five-star property with the debut of The Ritz-Carlton, Denver; it’s got a John Elway steakhouse and a spa … Another new Ritz-Carlton has opened in White Plains, N.Y., the business hub of Westchester County, just north of New York City; the hotel is within walking distance of the White Plains train station for quick access to Manhattan … Speaking of Manhattan, the legendary Plaza Hotel is due to start taking guests again effective March 1, under the aegis of Fairmont Hotels;Hotels; during a lengthy overhaul, many of the classic hotel’s guest rooms were converted into private residences, but 282 rooms remain as hotel accommodations … In lower Manhattan, the New York Marriott Financial Center has changed its name to the New York Marriott Downtown … In Boston,Boston, The Copley Square Hotel has closed down for a renovation, expected to last through late spring … A mid-February debut is planned for the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, part of the Marriott family … Just outside Washington D.C., Kimpton Hotels has opened the Hotel Monaco Alexandria, on King Street in the Old Town neighborhood … In Chicago, January 30 was the debut date for the all-suite Trump International Hotel & Tower at 401 N. Wabash, part of a new 92-story skyscraper … In Minnesota, a new Hilton hotel has opened in Bloomington, a western suburb of the Twin Cities … The newest luxury boutique hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., is the Thompson Beverly Hills … Up the coast in downtown Santa Barbara, the former Hotel Andalucia has reopened as the Canary Hotel … In Texas, the Fairmont Dallas this month will open a new Fairmont Gold section – 47 rooms with majestic city views, upgraded accommodations and high-tech services and amenities ... And the former Holiday Inn Select on the LBJ Freeway at Jupiter in Dallas is now the Radisson Hotel Dallas East and Conference Center.
