New terminal coming to Atlanta

Facility will handle international flights

Atlanta’s city council has given the green light to a plan to construct a $1.2 billion international terminal at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The construction schedule calls for the new Maynard Holbrook Jackson Jr. International Terminal to open in 2011. It will reportedly have its own entrance from Interstate 75, a parking garage, and gate space to accommodate up to a dozen wide-body jets. The newspaper said ATL’s existing Terminal E will also continue to handle international flights after the new facility opens. Atlanta’s largest operator, Delta Air Lines, has been adding more international flights from the airport in recent months.
