Northwest, AA add routes

Routes: Portland-Amsterdam for Northwest; ORD-Moscow for American

Northwest Airlines and American Airlines both announced new transatlantic routes that will begin next year.

Northwest said that in cooperation with partner KLM, it will inaugurate non-stop daily service on March 29, 2008 between Portland, Oregon and Amsterdam, using an A330-200 with two-class service. At Amsterdam, passengers will have connecting options to 80 destinations in Europe, Africa, India and the Middle East.

American Airlines said that on June 2, 2008, it will begin the first non-stop service by a U.S. airline between Chicago O’Hare and Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport. American said it will operate the service six days a week (no Sunday flight eastbound, no Monday flight westbound), using a two-class 767-300, including 30 of its Next Generation business class seats.
