Low-cost carrier flew to London, Vancouver
Oasis Hong Kong Airlines, a low-cost carrier flying 747s to London and Vancouver, has stopped flying. “Our flight operations have been cancelled until further notice,” the airline said on its web site, adding that it has applied to the Hong Kong Court to appoint a provisional liquidator. Oasis had offered low-fare economy and business class on its six weekly Vancouver-Hong Kong flights, and in recent months had said that it expected to expand its North American service to include Oakland and Chicago, and to begin flying to additional destinations in continental Europe. The sudden termination of service reportedly left hundreds of passengers stranded.
