Paris CDG gets a new terminal

Facility will handle intra-European flights

Officials of Aeroports de Paris and Air France presided last week at the official opening of Terminal 2G at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, a facility designed to accommodate short and medium-haul traffic and intra-European connections to a variety of secondary airports around the continent. Although it is designed for smaller aircraft, some 80 percent of Terminal 2G’s passengers will be able to board directly from its 26 gates; the facility will also offer connecting passengers a shuttle service to other CDG terminals operating every four to five minutes. Waiting areas have power outlets at each row of seats, and the terminal has a free Playstation gaming area and a relaxation area. Regional airports to be served from Terminal 2G include France’s Clermont-Ferrand, Limoges, Mulhouse-Basle, Pau, Rennes and Strasbourg; Germany’s Bremen, Hanover, Leipzig, Munster and Nuremberg; Spain’s Bilbao and Vigo; Italy’s Florence, Genoa, Pisa, Trieste and Verona; Slovenia’s Ljubljana; and Sweden’s Gothenburg.
