Pricier parking in Chicago

Chicago airports may raise parking rates

The Chicago mayor’s office has proposed a city ordinance that would raise fees for parking at O’Hare and Midway airports. The ordinance is subject to city council approval. If it takes effect, the ordinance would leave hourly parking rates unchanged, but would boost daily rates from $26 to $30 at O’Hare, $25 to $28 at Midway. At O’Hare, main valet rates would jump from $32 to $45; daily parking at the International Terminal would increase from $30 to $50; the daily rate at the economy lot would go from $13 to $16; and a new economy valet rate of $26 a day would be offered. At Midway, a new valet rate, not currently available, would be $40 a day, and economy lot daily rates would go from $12 to $14. “these new rates are intended to steer cost-conscious travelers to the economy lots at both O’Hare and Midway airports and help keep the close-in main terminal garages open and available,” the mayor’s office said.
