RT at Westchester, SFO

Registered Traveler opens at Westchester, coming to SFO soon

Verified Identity Pass, operator of the “Clear” Registered Traveler (RT) program, has started operations at New York’s Westchester County Airport and is scheduled to open new “fast pass” lanes next month at San Francisco International Airport, the company said. Clear Registered Travelers get a special biometric identity card that gives them access to special security clearance lanes at any airport where the RT program is operating. Members pay $99.95 a year and undergo a pre-screening background check by the Transportation Security Administration. At Westchester Airport, there’s a Clear enrollment station across from the AirTran ticket counters, open weekdays this month from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Meanwhile, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom last week announced the selection of Clear as the supplier for SFO’s RT program, with the opening of two enrollment stations at the city’s airport. San Francisco-area travelers can sign up for Clear at the airport stations, in Terminals One and Three, open from 5 a.m.-10 p.m. daily; or at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero downtown. Registration is also possible through the company’s web site (www.flyclear.com). The vendor will open a registration station at SFO’s International Terminal this fall. The RT program is expected to expand this fall to other major airports including Washington D.C.’s Dulles and Reagan National, Denver, and Atlanta.
