Dictator's palace draws crowds

Romania’s top tourist attraction? Nicolae Ceausescu’s grandiose palace, located in central Bucharest. The former home of the Romanian communist leader, who was executed by a firing squad in 1989, attracts more than 1,000 visitors a day during the summer season. Ceausescu had much of the city’s historic district demolished in order to erect the palace.
